FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION
The FK-1 is the reference platform, but a humanoid is the wrong form factor for most physical work. Carrying loads across rough terrain does not require arms. Inspecting the interior of a pipe does not require legs. Welding a seam does not require a head. Each deployment scenario defines a geometry, and that geometry defines the machine.[8]
FK-1 COLOSSUS
General-Purpose Humanoid
The flagship. 42+ DOF bipedal humanoid for unstructured environments. Performs any task a human laborer performs — construction, assembly, inspection, maintenance, rescue, logistics — in any environment designed for human access. The reference platform from which all modular interface standards, power bus specifications, and control architectures derive. Primary deployment: Modular Habitats construction, Stellar Furnace reactor assembly, disaster response.
FK-2 MULE
Quadruped Heavy Carrier
Four-legged load hauler. No manipulation capability — pure locomotion and load bearing. 200+ kg payload on all-terrain suspension. Follows FK-1 units or operates autonomously on mapped routes. Simpler than the humanoid by an order of magnitude: fewer actuators, no hands, lower control bandwidth. Higher payload-to-weight ratio precisely because it does less. Primary deployment: construction logistics, warehouse transfer, forward supply in terrain too rough for wheeled vehicles.[9]
FK-3 ARTISAN
Fixed Industrial Manipulator
Seven-degree-of-freedom articulated arm on a mobile or fixed base. Purpose-built for welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, painting — the heavy industrial manipulation tasks where a humanoid form factor wastes mass and complexity. Swappable end effectors on magnetic quick-connect interfaces (same M5 grid and CANbus backbone as every Foundation Kinetics system). A field technician swaps a three-finger gripper for a welding torch in ninety seconds without a multimeter.[10] High rigidity, high repeatability, massive torque at the shoulder. This is the machine that goes into Stellar Furnace reactor fabrication and Lorentz Aerospace hull manufacturing.

FK-4 SCARAB
Inspection and Maintenance Micro-Bot
Beetle-sized crawlers for confined-space inspection, pipe interior monitoring, superconductor track surface checks, and localized repair. Operates inside Stellar Furnace piping to monitor plasma residue. Traverses Highfield Magnetics superconductor tracks for surface inspection. Swarm-capable: multiple Scarabs coordinate through Maxwell Continuum Li-Fi optical links to deliver temporary containment, sealant application, and condition monitoring until scheduled maintenance arrives.[11]
FK-5 ARACHNE
Hexapod Composite Fabrication Crawler
This is the machine that makes large-form composite fabrication possible. You cannot cast a seamless composite hull. You must lay it up, fiber by fiber, on the structure itself. The FK-5 Arachne is a car-sized hexapod with multiple manipulator arms that climbs directly onto the workpiece using Vapor Vacuum suction pads or magnetic clamps. It carries spools of carbon fiber and CNT-enhanced filament from Metallic Sciences, performing multi-axis automated fiber placement with in-situ scanning and defect correction. The result: seamless monocoque composite shells with no rivets, no welds, no joints. The structure is continuous fiber, hardened by resin cure.[12]
Primary client: Lorentz Aerospace vehicle hulls. Secondary: Modular Habitats structural shells and any application requiring large non-planar composite structures that cannot be manufactured on flat tooling.
FK-6 SERPENT
Confined-Space Articulated Unit
Snake-form articulated robot for pipe interiors, collapsed structures, ventilation systems, and anywhere a rigid frame cannot reach. Modular segment design — add or remove links to match the mission profile. Each segment carries its own actuator and local compute; Aetheric Sciences provides the distributed coordination architecture that allows the segments to move as a unified body without centralized control. Deployment scenarios: search and rescue, nuclear decommissioning, infrastructure inspection in spaces too narrow or too contaminated for human entry.[13]
FK-7 TITAN
Exoskeleton Power Amplifier
Not autonomous. A human-worn power amplifier for the transition period in which certain tasks still require human judgment in the loop but would benefit from five times the lifting force and zero operator fatigue. Highfield Magnetics motors at every joint, Aetheric Sciences intent prediction from EMG and force-torque sensors. The operator initiates the motion; the exoskeleton amplifies it. Construction, military logistics, shipyard work, assisted mobility for elderly or rehabilitating patients.[14]
FK-8 LEGION
Coordinated Micro-Worker Swarm
Small (30–50 cm), wheeled or tracked, single-purpose units deployed in coordinated groups of dozens or hundreds. Each unit performs one simple task — place a brick, drive a screw, apply sealant, carry a component to a station. Intelligence resides in the swarm coordination layer supplied by Aetheric Sciences, not in the individual unit. Cheap enough to be expendable. Swarm communications via Maxwell Continuum Li-Fi optical mesh. This is the system that automates residential construction at scale — not one robot building a house, but two hundred small robots building a house together.[15]
FK-9 TERRA
Autonomous Terrain Construction System
Megascale platform for autonomous road, tunnel, and foundation construction in remote or hazardous terrain. Processes rock and soil in situ, grades terrain, deposits structural material behind it as it advances. Powered by a dedicated Stellar Furnace mobile power module. This is a long-horizon research concept that informs near-term heavy-platform development — not a catalog product.
